Pirate Bay planning to have server drones in the sky

File-sharing website Pirate Bay, possibily the last stand for both uploaders and downloaders, have come up with a new idea to dodge law enforcement - servers in the sky.

The logic behind the move is that officials will have to commit themselves to 'a real act of war' to bring down the servers, using surface-to-air weapons.

According to a blog post on Sunday, the website said: “We can’t limit ourselves to hosting things just on land anymore."

“These Low Orbit Server Stations (LOSS) are just the first attempt. With modern radio transmitters we can get over 100Mbps per node up to 50km away. For the proxy system we’re building, that’s more than enough.”

The website added that these drones will float 'some kilometers in the air' and will only be stopped if authorities resort to high-tech equipment.

But the plan seems to be some years away.

“We’re just starting so we haven’t figured everything out yet,” the blog post said.

Pirate Bay has long been one of the go-to destinations on the Web for movies, music, software, electronic entertainment and more. The move comes after a deadly backlash by governments against copyright violators and pirates.
