Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan, who wrote the script of Baadshah, have categorically denied reports that the film is loosely based on Akshay Kumar’s Singh is King. “BAADSHAH is a fresh brand new story being written by me & Gopi Mohan. It has no resemblances to any other film. It’s not even inspired from any film of any language. Any news or gossip regarding the story is a mere speculation (sic),” Kona Venkat posted on Twitter.
Gopi Mohan has stated that Raju Sundaram is already working on the remake of Singh is King, for which both he and Kona Venkat might team up to make a few corrections for the Telugu version. “After the success of Ready in Hindi, we are getting good offers from Bollywood. So we are trying our best to write Baadshah’s story so that we can sell it in Hindi too. There are no shades at all,” says Gopi Mohan. Both of them will join Sreenu Vaitla and NTR on the sets of Baadshah in Italy on July 18. NTR and Kajal are playing the lead roles. Thaman has composed the music.
