TRS warns YSRC on Vijayamma deeksha

Ahead of the one-day 'Chenetha Deeksha' by YSR Congress Party honourary presidnet YS Vijayalakshmi in Sircilla on July 23, the TRS has resolved to intensify agitations and protests in the district and warned that Karimnagar town would witness another 'Mahabubabad type violence' if Vijayamma goes ahead with her deeksha.

It may be mentioned that Mahabubabad witnessed unprecedented violence in May 2010 when mob pelted stones at former minister Konda Surekha and other MLAs at the railway station waiting room as Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was due to arrive in the town for his Odarpu Yatra.

A youth was killed when the police opened fire to disperse the crowd. Ultimately, Jagan was arrested and the yatra was cancelled.

TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao camped at Sircilla for motivating the people in the region to follow the action plan drafted by the student wing of the TRS.

The action plan includes burning Vijayamma in effigies, organising protests and rallies and a 'Chalo Sircilla' programme on July 23.

Rama Rao also visited the camp to express his solidarity to the women who were protesting against Vijayamma's proposed deeksha. Meanwhile, TRS women's wing chief Tula Uma demanded that Vijayamma should first declare her stand on Telangana.
