There is once again high tension in Andhra Pradesh with YS Vijayalakshmi going ahead with her “Cheneta Deeksha” in Srisisilla and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and pro-Telangana activists vowing to stop her from entering Sirisilla.
The TRS and the T-JAC have given a call for a bandh in Sircilla to ensure Vijayalakshmi’s visit is not successful. Police had earlier granted permission to YSRC to hold the dharna near the Sirisilla Ambedkar statue.
Vijayalakshmi’s Convoy obstructed
From almost every point since Vijayalakshmi started her journey with a large convoy of vehicles from her Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad, there have been attempts by students and TRS activists to stop her from reaching Sirisilla. The convoy had to be diverted to a different route. Almost 1,000 police personnel are now trying to ensure safe passage for the convoy. The convoy is currently in Medak.
Lathi charge in Telangana Bhavan
Since last night, a number of students have gathered at the TRS bhavan and they attempted to reach Lotus Pond today morning. With the police obstructing them the students began pelting stones and the police resorted to lathi charge. With students believing that there were police at the outer wall of the TRS Bhavan, there were alsoattempts to throw petrol bottlesand tension prevailed at the TRS Bhavan with the police lathi charge. The roads to Telangana Bhavan have been closed by the police.
KTR, Harish Rao Arrested
Sirisilla MLA KTR was taken into custody today morning and another leader Harish Rao was arrested yesterday in a seed factory in Siddipet. A number of TRS activists and leaders were also taken into preventive custody. Published Date: 2012-07-23 02:37:49 GMT
