State to sponsor World Telugu Conference at Tirupati

 

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday said that the World Telugu Conference to be held in Tirupati in December this year would be made an epoch-making event.

He declared that the entire cost of the Conference will be borne by the State Government.

The Chief Minister also agreed to release Rs 5 crore as first installment and asked the Finance Department to sanction Rs 25 crore to meet the expenses of the conference. He said that promotion of Telugu and our culture was the responsibility of the State Government.

Kiran Kumar Reddy also said that prominent and eminent Telugu people from all over the world would be invited for the conference.

On Tuesday, he chaired a review meeting with ministers and officials at Secretariat on the 4th World Telugu Conference to be held at Tirupati in December.

Tourism Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar, Ministers - D K Aruna, N Raghuveera Reddy, D Sreedhar Babu, Cultural Council chairman R V Ramana Murthy, TTD Executive Officer LV Subramaniam and other officials attended the meeting.

Director, Cultural Affairs, R V Prasada Raju presented the Action Plan on the World Telugu Conference.

The Chief Minister will be the Chairman of the Organising Committee. Other important Committees will be formed soon involving ministers, people's representatives and all prominent personalities.

The Chief Minister will open the office of the World Telugu Conference in the campus of Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad.

The First World Telugu Conference was held at Hyderabad during 12 - 19 April, 1975. Second conference at Kaulalampur (Malaysia) in 1985, the Third conference during 1990 and the fourth conference is proposed at Tirupati during December this year.

The meeting discussed the action plan prepared for the successful conduct of the Conference in a befitting manner.

All the MPs, MLAs, MLCs will be accommodated as members in the committees constituted based on their interest. The District Cultural conferences to be held in September would motivate the districts to participate in the conference in a big way.

The District Collectors through District Cultural Councils have to make the arrangements for the success of District Cultural Conferences.

Processions and meetings have to be organised involving the students, youth and women at village, mandal and district levels.

The local artists, poets, writers and intellectuals would be invited to the conference by the Collector.

A day-long District Cultural Seminar may be organised by involving the district ministers, MLAs, MPs and other public representatives. A District Level Cultural Exhibition may also be organised in this regard.

The Collector will be requested to involve the philanthropists, industrialists etc. for the successful conduct of Cultural Conference.

These conferences have to be organised in September, 2012. During the Independence Day celebrations, the Chief Minister will release the Logo of World Telugu Conference.

An interactive website will be opened with the facilities of online registration, information about the conference, information about the committees, contact numbers and content material about the World Telugu Conference, Literature etc.

A meeting with the editors of the print media, CEOs of electronic media, cultural organisations and reputed NGOs of the State will be held in the first week of August, 2012 which will be followed by a meeting with MLAs, MLCs, MPs, Ministers of the State and Centre Level at Jubilee Hall in the second week of August, 2012.

Another meeting with organisations of Telugus outside the State and country will be held in the third week of August, 2012 followed by meeting with the prominent personalities of Telugu Film Industry in the last week of August, 2012.

The Chief Minister will write to the Government of India to release a postal stamp to commemorate the fourth World Telugu Conference. The Press and Electronic Media would play a very important role in organising the World Telugu Conference.
